Australian Association of Teachers of the Deaf (South Australia)

Welcome to the home of the Australian Association of Teachers of the Deaf (South Australia) Inc.

The Australian Association of Teachers of the Deaf (South Australia), known as AATD(SA), has been a member of the National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf, known as NAATD, since 1935.

As an association, we work with a common purpose to promote unity, diversity and understanding between members of the teaching profession, other professions and families in South Australia working with children and students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH).

As Teachers of the Deaf, we work in various educational settings such as Schools for the Deaf, support unit classrooms, early intervention programs and as Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf who visit children and students who are deaf or hard of hearing in their local schools.
The role of the Teacher of the Deaf varies throughout the world. However, the integral focus of their work is to support the education of children and students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.
